Vincent was born during an expedition that his father, Grimoire, had brought his wife with him instead of letting her stay where there was adequately trained medical personnel, because they were dirt poor scientists as scientists are wont to be, and had no other options if they wanted to keep their Shin-Ra funding. She passed away in labor, causing a rift between the Valentines: the son believing his father to resent him due to 'killing' his wife, the father grieving and unable to grow close to his son because his folly cost little Vincent his mother.
In the years to come, Vincent would go with his father on expeditions and research trips and the like. During these formative years Vincent mostly passed the time trying to be as useful as possible to people, which mostly meant being quiet and helpful while grownups did science work, until he became old enough to fire a gun and protect the caravan from roving beasts, which he showed considerable skill and promise at. He did not however learn how to socialize or communicate very well, considering father and son rarely had many things to say to each other and few friends his own age.
Vincent's favorite and practically only pastimes was reading lots of books, practicing with firearms and listening to taped radio plays, especially a pulp sci-fi show called 'The Fantastic Adventures of Booster Bannon, Space Ranger'. Bannon was a hero who roamed all around the world, was suave, wooed ladies and saved every planet he came across from impending disaster: suffice to say, Vincent desperately wanted to be like him.
So as he grew older and wanted to find his place in the world, he got the idea of joining the Turks because THEY had adventures and fighting and did it all to protect people. Daddy was not exactly pleased considering he knew the dirty stuff Turks were up to, father and son had an argument and subsequent fallout, and Grimoire eventually relented because in his heart of hearts, he wanted something better for Vincent than being a scientist. And we all know how that worked out.
-Vincent often took care of the home while dad was away sciencing and did dishes, cooking and cleaning. Hence he is actually very neat, but he hasn't lived in a place that isn't a cave for years so he has never shown how neat he can be.
-Vincent primarily got stuck with bodyguard work and assassination during his time in the Turks, because he wasn't sociable enough for espionage or… anything that required him to take independent action. His skills with a rifle were uncanny, bu the was just not useful for anything but using guns in whatever way the Turks could come up with.
-Vincent is NOT a virgin. He did in fact have sex with Lucrecia, she topped him into it and it was very awkward and hella clumsy and by GOD he liked it.
-And on that note, he has not had sex with Hojo. All Hojo did was put a lot of weird stuff inside HIM, not his anus. After the transformation however, Hojo did, mostly for laughs, castrate him. He was trying to see how good Vincent’s regenerative abilities were, and it’s not like Vincent was going to USE it if things didn’t work out. They did however, and little Valentine is still functional.
- He does not sweat, or require food or water for sustenance. He does not produce waste in any shape or form. He DOES bleed but only a little before he regenerates, and as such he is neither cold as ice or as warm as an average human being.
-He has no scars. The regeneration prevents them from happening.
-His ridiculous guntwirling comes from a very heavily suppressed childish side of him, which still clings to the belief he has from his childhood that a ’hero’ should have some flashy moves incorporated into his repertoire. He will in fact try out a maneuver or move he thinks looks cool and incorporate it into his routine.
-He has no idea that this makes him look even weirder to outsiders, since a stoic man like himself isn’t expected to make flashy poses.
-He has on occasions debated asking Yuffie in some subtle way on advice with poses. His common sense and better judgment usually shoot down these impulses before they bloom into anything bigger, because he knows she will NEVER let him live it down, ever, in her whole life.
